My name is Jafari Townsell, was born in Hawaii, but been living in Waldorf, Maryland since 2005. I attend the university of Maryland, where I am in the Marketing program of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. I was also accepted into the Media, Self & Society program of College Park Scholars here at UMD. There are many things I expect to gain from my experience here at this university and my experience in the scholar’s program. One thing includes me being able to advance my knowledge, especially with this being one of the top college’s in the country, I hope and feel like I will gain a lot of useful knowledge. Something else I want to gain is preparation for the job/workforce of my related major, because I would like to be able to know what I could possibly be doing in the job I have after college. Something I would like to gain from the scholar’s program is to see what goes on in the media world, because I know a little but want to know more, especially if it is related to my job. What I would also like to gain from the scholar’s programs is what are the different job opportunities that interest me and relate to my major, so I can explore the job more. I would say these are the things I look forward to gain in my college experience but there could be more, and have to learn them later on.
